After relocating from San Francisco to Dallas in 2022, I started a contract as a Product Designer with the Card Protection team at Citibank. The primary focus of this position was dealing with end-user problems involving credit or debit card workflows.
A standout project for us was improving case dispute notification preferences across Android, and Web platforms. My major responsibility was to deliver a seamless solution to Citibank customers, which gave me the opportunity to work alongside journey owners, developers Following up on the success of the iOS launch, The focus was to create the same seamless experience for the web and Android user experience.
We started small, by throttling the beta to a sample size of about 5,000 users before rolling it out across the United States. We accomplished this with an almost 10% increase in opt-in efficiency, which was tracked with Click-Through Rates (CTR) on a monthly cycle for each platform. Considering Citibank has over 78 million cards in circulation, we were extremely happy with our results.
While I had contributed to significant improvements in the user experience I must note that due to the confidentiality of my work under a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA), I was not allowed to retain any of the work associated with this project. Nevertheless, the screen grabs I am sharing represent the features that were put into production during my contract.
In conclusion, in my contract as a Product Designer with Citibank's Card Protection team was pivotal to my professional Development. It was a great exercise for my design skills, I had the privilege of working with an extremely talented team, and we got to celebrate the success of simply making things work better for users.
